It’s not quite 4:30am, and I’ve just spent 15 minutes standing in the freezing cold, but it was all totally worth it to see the last night shuttle launch. So crystal clear outside, I could track the two solid rocket boosters as they fell back to earth. My god. *cries*

Well, it took ‘em a few tries, but Endeavour is finally in space, carrying the 500th human to go there. (And a few others.) Picture-perfect launch. I have to admit, though, every time I hear the phrase “Go with throttle up,” I still clench a little bit.

Yesterday afternoon, NASA launched an Atlas V rocket carrying two lunar probes. One of them will scout for potential human landing sites, while the other looks for water in dark craters.
